Lo que ven acá arriba es la captura de pantalla de un widget de Netvibes para una de mis cuentas de mail, la que uso para el Messenger, para ser más exacto.

Últimamente los recordatorios de solicitudes de amistad de Facebook aparecen todos los días y me tienen podrido. No uso esa cuenta para enviar o recibir mails, ni la tengo asociada al Face, pero el hecho de que se tomen el atrevimiento de enviarme recordatorios todos los días me molesta.

Lately, spam is taking over Twitter. As the little blue bird grows, spammers and opportunists find their way to bother common users like me and you. It’s easy to set up an account, start following some twitterers and post two or three messages like “Check this out!!!: http://example.com Awesome!!!”. Most of the messages are money and advertising related, those users usually put an image of a sexy girl on their profile, fake names, and a Bio using the words “money, living, cash, earn, free, learn, win, ads or trial”.

We got to be smart people. If Twitter can’t find a way to stop them by the moment, the least we can do is start blocking them. I know sometimes it’s all about numbers, and you like to have a good number up there in the Followers section. In fact, I know that many of the followers of twitterers with a lot of followers (+1000) that I’m following (sounds like a tongue twister) are spammers. Everytime we let a spammer alive (this is, everytime we don’t block him) we’re adding noise to the Twitterverse. Also, 3 or 4 less followers are not going to hurt your Twitter reputation.

So, everytime a spammer account starts following you, take 5 seconds of your time and block him.
